The Rocky Mountains are one of the most splendid views in the world and they are in our backyard, a little over 45 min from our home.
So as usuall we pull out in a rush but as slow as a turtle, As usual my husband is patiently waiting in his truck while I throw in the last of our groceries. We plan on heading out for two days ( which spoiler alert turns into 4 nights 5 days… so much for the last minute grocery I needed my whole fridge!!! We then stop grab some refreshments from town and head out down the road. After a shaky set up of the holiday trailer the kids are free to wander the wood like bandits.
So this week I decided I will share with you my familys, not so secret getaway. My husband’s family has operated a guiding and outfitting business called McKenzie Trails West, located West of Nordegg, on the way to Icefield Parkway and a 30 min drive to The Crossing.
When we camp in the mountains, we usually camp close to the McKenzie Trails west base camp where they take out trail rides, and pack trips in to back country of the Rocky Mountains. Im sure Ill be posting more pictures from trail riding later this summer. They always have that cowboy coffee on and thats a real treat when your camping.
Our kids adore spending time out there, everytime we go camping the kids get to be little modern day adventurer’s. I hope you enjoy their little adventures as much I do.
May your beer stay cold and kids stay wild, and I hope you enjoy your summer and please, please , please travel safe this summer!!!
